There are two major cities in the DC Comics universe, Metropolis and Gotham City, and each has their protectors. Metropolis's hero is an alien from another world who came to Earth and dawned a red cape to save the day. Gotham's heroes are a bit darker in that they hide in the shadows. Batman and Robin have been fighting crime with their keen detective skills and putting bad guys behind bars for years.
